K-Lazer Super Pulse

Laser Therapy, or "photobiomodulation", is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling. Laser Therapy has been widely utilized in Europe by physical therapists, nurses and doctors as far back as the 1970's. Now, after FDA clearance in 2002, Laser Therapy is being used extensively in the United States.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the power of most laser therapy devices on the market?
Most laser therapy devices are class III lasers or "cold" lasers. Their power ranges from 5 milliwatts to 500 milliwatts. The K-Laser is a high-powered therapy device ranging up to 12 Watts (12,000 milliwatts). However, the K-Laser power is adjustable from 500 milliwatts to 12 Watts allowing for a wide range of treatment protocols. This power and penetration of the K-Laser system is not attainable with cold laser devices.

Are there any studies that support laser therapy?
More than 2,500 published studies worldwide involving laser therapy, with over 100 double-blind studies published. There are several effects that have been observed with therapeutic lasers, and phototherapy in general, that make laser therapy unique among the various healing modalities available today. Photobiomodulation produces changes in oxidation/reduction status of the mitochondria which lead to substantial increases in ATP synthesis. Activation of the sodium/potassium pump alters the cell membrane permeability.

Does it hurt? What does a treatment feel like?
There is little or no sensation during treatment. Occasionally one feels mild, soothing warmth or tingling. Areas of pain or inflammation may be sensitive briefly before pain reduction.

Are there any side effects or associated risks?
During more than twenty years of use by healthcare providers all over the world, very few side effects have ever been reported. Occasionally some old injuries or pain syndromes may feel aggravated for a few days, as the healing response is more active after treatment.

How long does each treatment take?
The typical treatment is 3 to 9 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

How often should a patient be treated?
Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. More chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week, tapering to once a week or once every other week, with improvement.

How many treatments does it take?
This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions 1 to 6 treatments may be sufficient. Those of a more chronic nature may require 10 to 15 (or more) treatments. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.

How long before the results are felt?
You may feel improvement in your condition (usually pain reduction) after the very first treatment. Sometimes you will not feel improvement for a number of treatments. This does not mean that nothing is happening. Each treatment is cumulative and results are often felt after 3 or 4 sessions.

Can it be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment?
Yes! Laser Therapy is often used with other forms of therapy, including physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, massage, soft tissue mobilization, electrotherapy and even following surgery. Other healing modalities are complementary and can be used with laser to increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

Are these treatments covered by insurance?
No. At this time there are no codes for coverage under any insurance program, this includes Medicare.

How much does each visit cost?
Care is administered as a package of 6 to 12 visits depending on the severity of the condition. These packages cost between $400 - $800 by themselves. Other treatments are often recommended that compliment the effects of the laser. Their costs can vary and can be discussed at the initial consultation.

Does it cost money to learn more about laser therapy?
No! Complimentary consultations to learn more about the laser and find out if it is indicated for your condition are always welcome. Call Colleen M W F (508) 420-0495, 7am - 1pm to schedule a time to learn more!

Why K-Laser?

Cellular Effects of Laser Therapy occur when photons of therapeutic laser light interact with cells. Higher adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP) levels are produced, cell membrane permeability is increased, and blood and lymphatic vessels are vasodilated. These events then lead to a cascade of beneficial effects increasing cellular energy and health.

During each treatment, laser energy increases circulation drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved.

K-Laser Class IV Therapy Promotes:

Innovation. Precision. Performance.

The K-Laser was the first to employ two infrared wavelengths simultaneously or independently of 800nm and 970nm. These two wavelengths go deep to heal the tissue while also aiding in pain relief. Combined with output modes of Continuous Wave, Modulated or Pulsed Wave, and SuperPulsed Wave, the K-Laser is the most technologically-advanced Class IV Therapy Laser available.

In addition, K-LaserUSA has researched, tested, and added 55 Treatment Presets in every K-Laser. This advanced feature gives the clinician great confidence in knowing that protocols have been designed for patient satisfaction, effectiveness and safety.
